How to build your guild a web-site
I just wanted to know what some of the other guilds who have websites use to hhost them for them. Did you guys build them yourself or did you have it done by someone. and if someone did it for you how often do they let you update content

Ours was done by our leader, take a look at it if ya want to (http://www.ffhgw.tk) but if you want to get your own website, there are three ways to get it done:
1. Get a skilled webdesigning member. 2. Recruit a Webdesigner *may cost ya some cash tho * 3. Try to learn it by yourself. For the 3rd point I'd suggest ya to use programs like Photoshop/Photoimpact for the graphics and Dream Weaver/Microsoft Frontpage for the coding as long as you don't know anything about HTML itself. Not saying those programs are the best but I could set up a simple website with them. You can always google some tutorials too... ~Taranis |

Mine (look sig) was done by a very skilled member who has since left us, she goes by the name Lady Danger she plays on Bartz sever of Lineage Two.. thanks a mill chamms.
I use www.lunarpages.com to host, its a very good server and pretty cheap. $8-10 a month for the most basic of plans. Oh by the way, I can update whenever need be, just a little bit of HTML knowledge (and admin to the server) is all you need. Last edited by Leventh; Apr 27, 2005 at 01:15 AM // 01:15.. |

I know many fansites offer guild site hosting. Check the official listings at guildwars.com to see.
I think every guild site needs some forums. phpBB.com is a good place for free forums. |

Our interent provider allowed us some net space...so that was what I used.
Created it with Dreamweaver. Although it is very much out of date as we only need out forum at the current time. I am going to re-make it with PHP, learning it now...but it just doesn't seem as nessecary to get up a webpage anymore...Just for general information for others...other then that...new and pictures are all able to be posted up on forums... It will come eventually but. www.crimsonhellknights.tk |

you know what the CHEAPEST hosting is? hosting it yourself, I have two computers, one with WinXP, and the other has Linux... I'm tryin to set it up as an HTTP server so I can host my websites myself... but cPanel keeps messing it up lol >.<

Well, we built our own using Frontpage, just make sure the hosting site allows front page extentions or you will be making a site and not be able to use it. The host we use ixwebhosting was a little over $100 for a year, and for the forums we just clicked a button and whamo forums, we have mysql and phpadmin, coppermine and full access, well, not ssh but we can ftp whatever we need and they have a nice control panel. We have tons of room for additions and there suport was good when I wanted to try and host a TS server....but that is the one thing they dont support *darn it* Come check out the site, it is simple but it works.... www.guidedbyvoices.net. We were by no means webmasters, but we are learning....

I host my forums on my own server - will create a web page soon so that member profiles and guild news can be posted. I am a programmer and web designer so I will do that myself as well.

use guildportal. It's an easy way to get a site up for your guild.
www.guildportal.com this is the website I created (with the help of guildportal's easy to use tools) for my old guild. http://deathsadvocates.guildportal.com |

I doubt my guild will have a website, for #1 -- we are rather a small guild and #2 -- most of us know eachother in real life. Regardless, the only suggestion I can give you is to ask some of your friends if they have hosting capabilities; that's what I did when I needed a website.
Good luck. |
